Join us for the Center for Sleep and Circadian Science's annual research day. This event highlights the innovative and transdisciplinary sleep and circadian research across the translational spectrum taking place here at Pitt and other local universities and institutions. It also provides us with the opportunity to network with colleagues.
This year's David J. Kupfer Keynote Speaker is Miranda Lim, MD, PhD. Dr. Lim is a neurologist with board certification in Sleep Medicine. In addition to her primary appointment as an Associate Professor in Neurology, she has secondary appointments in Behavioral Neuroscience, Medicine (Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine), and the Oregon Institute of Occupational Health Sciences, as well as a joint appointment at the VA Portland Health Care System. She currently serves as Associate Director of the Oregon Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, one of several NIH NIA P30-funded centers nationwide. She is also Associate Co-Director of VA's Advanced Fellowship in Mental Illness Research and Treatment (MIRT) for VA's VISN20 Northwest Mental Illness Research Education and Clinical Center (MIRECC).
Dr. Lim's research program, The Sleep & Health Applied Research Program (SHARP) investigates how sleep influences neuropathological and behavioral outcomes in neurological conditions across the lifespan, including autism spectrum disorder, traumatic brain injury (TBI), posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. The lab conducts translational research using both rodent models and human subjects, with expertise in sleep phenotyping, EEG/EMG analysis, wearable technologies, and machine learning. SHARP’s work is supported by a wide range of federal and foundation sources and has been published in leading journals such as Nature, Science, and PNAS.
Call for Abstracts (check back soon)
Researchers with an interest in sleep and circadian science are invited to submit an abstract to present during the conference’s dedicated poster session time. You will also have the option for your abstract to be considered for a data blitz presentation.
Abstracts should provide relevant background information, well-described methods, study results, and a statement of significance. You may submit an abstract (in the correct format) for a poster previously presented at other local or national meetings within the past academic year, as well as works in progress (including experimental designs and preliminary results).
Abstracts Submission Deadline is Monday, September 22nd (end of day).
This event is open to all faculty, trainees, and students at the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC and other local universities who are interested in sleep and circadian research.
Registration is required (deadline to register is Monday, October 27, 2025)
