PLSD

What is the Pittsburgh Lifespan Sleep Databank (PLSD)?

The PLSD has been developed by Drs. Meredith Wallace, Adriane Soehner, and Martica Hall through one year of pilot funding from the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) at the University of Pittsburgh.

The PLSD currently consists of harmonized participant-level data from existing sleep-related studies conducted at the University of Pittsburgh. Specific variables in the PLSD include daily actigraphy, retrospective self-reported sleep data, and harmonized cross-sectional measures of mental/physical health (e.g., depressive symptoms, psychiatric diagnosis, lifetime medical conditions) and sleep disorder indicators (e.g., apnea-hypopnea index, sleep disorder diagnoses). To ensure thorough deidentification of data included in the PLSD, we have taken two steps. First, all original participant IDs have been assigned a new numeric ID that is sequential by age and not associated with protocol. Second, all protocols were assigned a numeric code. An honest broker retains tables linking participant and protocol IDs for the PLSD and original study.

This project is approved by University of Pittsburgh Human Rights Protection Office: STUDY19040196.

At this stage, PLSD data are only available to the research teams who have contributed data with approval of a data request by affiliated investigators.

If you are a University of Pittsburgh Researcher wishing to contribute to the databank, please email plsd@upmc.edu
